Project Overview
The project aimed to design the homepage of Trade Trove. The project team conducted secondary research on Craigslist and surveyed users based in the United States to understand user needs and pain points. The goal was to improve the user experience  while keeping the key areas that users find helpful.
My Contributions
As the team leader, I collaborated with three other UX designers throughout the duration of the 5-day challenge project. We conducted a user survey to gather feedback and utilized the insights to develop the website from concept.

Research/Analysis

Our research involved a secondary analysis of few classified advertisements website, where we identified several good user experience practices such as fast loading time, useful functions including the ability to remove uninteresting listings, flag inappropriate listings, and good map functions for posting. We also conducted a review of relevant articles online and analyzed user feedback from various sources such as Google and rating websites.Based on our research, the most frequently cited issues with current users were fraud/scams, inadequate customer support, and outdated technology.

Finding Implementation
  • Enhance the interface by incorporating ample whitespace, employing clearer typography, and reducing the number of links and options on the homepage to achieve a simplified user experience.
  • Develop the search function by delivering more relevant search results, offering sorting options, and implementing enhanced filtering capabilities.
  • Integrate visual elements, such as images or icons, to facilitate quick scanning of listings and enhance user comprehension.
  • Provide distinct and well-defined categories for listings, enabling users to easily navigate and locate desired content.
  • Educate users on spam prevention and safeguarding against fraudulent listings, ensuring their safety and confidence while using the platform.
  • Establish a rating system to enhance the credibility of listings, fostering trust and reliability among users.
  • Develop map searching functionality, enabling users to explore and find listings based on geographical locations.
  • Implement features to report inappropriate or fraudulent users and listings, fostering a secure and trustworthy environment.
