I conducted user interviews and surveys to gain a better understanding of the needs and pain points of Costco shoppers. Based on our research, we found the following key insights:
Costco shoppers appreciate the store's wide selection of products and competitive prices, but often feel overwhelmed by the large store layout and long checkout lines.
Shoppers frequently use the Costco app to check prices and inventory before going to the store, but find the app's navigation and user interface confusing and difficult to use.
Users are interested in personalized recommendations and deals based on their shopping habits, but are hesitant to share personal data due to privacy concerns.

research findings

Using our research insights, we identified the following problem statement:"Costco shoppers need a more user-friendly and personalized shopping app that streamlines their in-store experience, while also addressing their privacy concerns."

To address the problem statement, we brainstormed and came up with several potential solutions. Some of the key ideas were:
A "Scan and Go" feature that would allow users to scan items as they shop and pay through the app, eliminating the need for checkout lines.
An improved navigation and user interface that would make it easier for users to find products and deals.
Personalized recommendations and deals based on users' shopping habits, without compromising their privacy.

Interface Design

I designed a new feature on the app's home page - a quick action button that allows users to book a lost, create shopping lists, and track and view their orders in real time. Additionally, personalized product recommendations were added to the home page, tailored to each user's shopping habits. By integrating real-time in-store traffic information, users can avoid long wait times at checkout and plan their shopping trips more efficiently. To further improve the tracking experience, I made sure that users can easily find their tracking information on the home page once they have placed an order. These new features were designed with the user's needs and preferences in mind, creating a more streamlined and convenient shopping experience for Costco shoppers.

In-store mapping Interface Design

I included an in-store mapping system to help users easily locate the products they need. Users can create a shopping list and the system will generate the best route for them to follow. To enhance the user experience, I also integrated an AR function. Additionally, I combined the scan-and-go feature with the in-store mapping system to enable users to scan products as they add them to their cart and automatically update their shopping list and route.

Picking up service Interface Design

pick up service

I designed a seamless pick-up service for Costco customers, aimed at providing a hassle-free and time-saving experience for both individual and business customers. The app is designed to cover the full journey of the pick-up service, starting from placing an order to making payment and collecting the items. Additionally, the app includes a map navigation feature to help users locate the pickup point easily. The pick-up service is integrated with the app, making it easier for users to schedule and manage their pick-up times. With the new service, users can expect a convenient and efficient way of shopping at Costco.

Scan & Shop Interface Design

I designed a Scan and Go feature that was easily accessible from the home screen of the Costco mobile app. Users could scan items using their phone camera and add them to their virtual shopping cart, which would update in real-time with the user’s current subtotal. The app also included a feature to easily remove items from the cart and adjust quantities.Scan and Shop Go is a convenient and time-saving service designed to enhance your shopping experience at Costco. With this service, you can simply scan the products you want to purchase with your smartphone, pay through the app, and leave the store without waiting in line at the checkout counter. The Scan and Shop Go service provides a seamless shopping experience, allowing you to save time and avoid long lines, and focus on finding the products you need at Costco.

In addition to this scan & go convenience, the app also offers an Account Settings section specifically for Scan and Go users. This section includes Order History, as well as easy access to Scan and Go services for the Food Hall, Fuel Station, and Tyre Center. In this case study, we will explore the UX design process and user research findings that informed the development of these Scan and Go features, as well as the impact they have had on user experience and business success.Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. My Costco Interface Design

The My Costco section is a personalized area within the Costco app that provides members with easy access to their account information and allows them to manage their membership on the go. It features a Quick Reorder button that allows users to quickly purchase items they have previously ordered, as well as a tracking and order history section that lets users keep track of their past purchases and current orders. The Digital Member Card feature enables users to access their membership information and redeem offers without needing to carry a physical card. Additionally, the 24/7 Chatbot customer service feature provides users with immediate assistance and support whenever they need it. Overall, the My Costco section is designed to enhance the user experience and provide members with a convenient and streamlined way to manage their Costco membership.
